Guardian ad Litem

At Preston Fox, P.C., guardian ad litem work is one of our specialties.

We particularly enjoy advocating for the best interests of children in contested custody and visitation matters. The firm advocates for clients as guardian ad litem in the following types of cases:

  • Child Custody
  • Child Visitation
  • Child Abuse & Neglect
  • Cases Involving Incarcerated Individuals
  • Cases Involving Military Members

The GAL is tasked with conducting factual investigations through home visits, interviews, and records requests.  Judges use GAL reports, which provide a summary of the factual investigation and a specific custody and visitation recommendation, as an integral part in making custody decisions.

We are so grateful that Lynn was chosen to be the Ad Litem for our Foster to Adopt case. As an advocate for our now adopted daughter, she fought hard to make sure our daughter had a voice in every hearing. It was so reassuring to know that she was in our corner. From her attention to every detail, to the absolute genuine passion to have our daughter’s best interest be known, we had the peace and confidence to know that our infant daughter could not have had a stronger voice through the whole process.- -L.S. & J.S., North Carolina

Thank you for your unbiased time, concern, and patience. Your devotion really helped my child and me. I am grateful that we had a person that truly cares during and after.- T. R., Virginia Beach, VA

Significantly, through GAL work, Preston Fox, PC has invaluable insight as to the most effective representation of parents in custody and divorce cases.  We know what judges are looking for when making decisions regarding custody and visitation.  We put that knowledge to use both when arguing in the courtroom and when providing guidance to parents hoping to put their best foot forward in any custody battle.
